July 22nd AFL-CIO Day of Action - Pass the Heroes Act
Tomorrow the AFL-CIO is holding a Day of Action to push for the Heroes bill! The Heroes bill would provide much needed relief to state and local government, premium pay for essential workers, paid leave, strengthen OSHA protection, and funding for safer voting in the 2020 elections.
We are asking folks to participate as part of the AFL-CIO's Day of Action tomorrow on social media. Check out the social media toolkit to post and ask your locals and activists to post tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22. Also, resharing the Heroes factsheet.
We need to push for the Heroes especially now that Mitch McConnell has a new relief bill. Details are still not yet out, but so far his proposal is only about $1trillion (compared to $3 trillion in the Heroes passed by the House), payroll tax cut, ties money to school reopening, and very little aid to state and local governments. Check out this recent WAPO article that has a good explanation of the politics and policies of the McConnell relief bill.
We urge everyone to join the AFL-CIO's Day of Action tomorrow, July 22!
