Former CWA Treasurer Motion for Judicial Release Denied

Convicted felon and former Local 4501 Treasurer Christal Harris filed a motion asking the court for Judicial Release. Under Ohio Law, Judicial Release allows eligible inmates to be released from custody and convert the remainder of their sentence to probation. The Court released the following decision in denying her request:

"Because the sentencing hearing in this matter took place just a few months ago, the Court recalls with great clarity the particulars of this case. And what is most concerning to this Court is that, during the hearing, Defendant seemed to demonstrate little, if any, remorse, about the financial devastation that she caused. In fact, the Court gave Defendant myriad opportunities to demonstrate genuine remorse to no avail. Moreover, the fact that Defendant would like to go home, which is a sentiment that most in her position would share, is not in and of itself a basis for this Court to grant the motion.

As such, Defendants motion is not well taken and is herby DENID"
