CWA local 4730 represents over 1,500 support staff from IU Bloomington and Northwest campuses. The Local is the negotiator for all support staff on these campuses concerning the distribution of staff wage adjustments (annually) and Support Staff policy (every three years). It also communicates regularly with IU Human Resources periodically through Mutual Gains Meetings and regarding departmental or individual issues.

The Communications Workers of America represents 700,000 workers in private and public sector employment in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. CWA members work in telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, education, health care and public service, law enforcement, manufacturing and other fields.
